Dr Sifiso Mtshali holds a BSc (UCT), MBChB (MEDUNSA), MBA (UFS) M Health Economics (Barcelona), and a Ph.D. in Public Health (UKZN). He has over 20 years of experience in rendering medical services with a human face coupled with counseling and comforting touch, project management, research, planning and grant management, fundraising, performance management, operations, and administration management.

He provides professional services, as a healthcare planner, for a condition assessment, and the development of a master plan for transforming district Hospitals into regional hospitals. He has trained senior government managers in Clinical governance. He was the country lead in the World Bank’s Economic Impact of healthcare workers’ infection during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also was one of the contributors to the costing of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in South Africa for the World Bank’s loan to South Africa. He worked with Path (NGO) on the HIV digital health landscape assessment in KwaZulu Natal. He is part of the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Government Covid-19 advisory team of scientists. The University of KwaZulu-Natal has appointed him as an advisor to the Vice-Chancellor and the Executive management.

Dr Mtshali is also a lecturer at UKZN Public Health Department. He is a supervisor to both master’s and doctoral students.
